Hi friends!
In two months time, I will be in Malawi. On a short-term mission trip with Little Dresses for Africa. Botching up the language, shrugging lots of shoulders and probably committing several faux pas. I’m getting more and more updates from my team leader, which reminds me of all of the things I need to do and all the things I haven’t considered: like dress codes, what “not” to do and international texting?! (never done that before!) If you haven’t had the chance to watch this interview, please do. It will tell you a little bit more about what I’m trying to do:
The outpouring of support I have received has been immense: in financial support, in dresses and in prayers. Thank you!! I continue to raise awareness for LDFA. Recently, I spoke at a local church. I also know of two dress parties coming up and I am scheduled to speak at two VBS camps this summer! We are getting the word out about Little Dresses for Africa and people are so eager to help! So many of you have asked me what is still needed. I have recently been in touch with our team leader and here’s what I know so far:
She has supplied me with two army bags and she would love to see them filled with little dresses. So, first and foremost, we can always use dresses! We hope to have enough to distribute everywhere we go. Pencils, pens, & pencil sharpeners are always needed. She is currently working with a company who will supply us with 2400 toothbrushes and we will buy bars of soap when we get there, so we no longer need to pack those. We could also use t-shirts for the boys (and shorts). Any style, any color in sizes small, medium and large. If you can meet any of these needs, please let me know and I will gladly pack them in my bags.
I am also in need of financial support. My deadline is August 1st and I still need to raise about $500. If you have wanted to contribute but haven’t, now is the time. Your gift is tax deductible and you can do it online. I will also personally deliver one little dress in your name. I am so thankful for any amount you can give.
