Tomorrow marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11. A day we will never forget. I’m sure we can all recall where we were when we heard the news. I was a first year teacher. I had heard from another teacher what had happened, but I could not comprehend the magnitude of the events that were unfolding. When parents, one after the other, started picking up their children early, I knew it was serious.
I remember driving home that afternoon. The sky was the most perfect shade of blue. Not a cloud (nor a plane) in it. It was calm, it was peaceful, it was quiet, when hours before it had been a battlefield.
Once I reached home and had access to media coverage, I was able to witness the horrific loss of that day. Ordinary people, doing ordinary things – they had no idea their lives would end that way. And we had no idea how our lives would change since that day.
Marla, from Family Fresh Cooking, is encouraging fellow bloggers to “bake to remember.” Sit down with fresh baked goodies and the people you love. Continue to pray for the families of the victims of 9/11 and enjoy a special moment with yours.
To be honest, tomorrow is a busy day for me. I made some fresh strawberry jam, so I’m going to serve it up for breakfast with a loaf of fresh bread. If you want to participate, you can even submit your photos to Marla. Just click on the link to the right.
